Learn about the worlds second largest natural harbour & Jurassic Coast
We offer School & Educational Trips from Poole Quay, starting early April until late October.
A unique learning experience for school, language, college and university groups aboard the vintage Dorset Queen.
Our local Captain will ensure you discover the rich history of our historic town and port.
Learn about infamous Poole pirate, Harry Paye and how he now stands guard at the entrance to World Heritage Site, Jurassic Coast.
Cruise around the worlds second largest natural harbour and the five islands within her.
Find out how Lord Baden-Powell came here back in 1907 and created the largest youth organisation in the world today or look in awe at the multi million pounds houses at Sandbanks and understand why doing well at school is so important.
Our vintage 1938 motor yacht offers her own piece of history and with a comfortable lounge as well as outside seating it is even possible to enjoy your lunch on board whist seeing some of the best views Dorset’s coastline has to offer.
The route of the cruise is at the discretion of the Captain and depending on the weather, but landmarks possible to view include Brownsea Castle, The Islands of Poole Harbour, Millionaires Row, Old Harry’s Rock, The Jurassic Coast, Swanage Bay, Poole Bay, Bournemouth’s Beaches & Wareham River.
Rest assured though, that whatever the sea conditions on the day, Poole Harbour itself will remain flat calm due to the fact it is land-locked.
Compton Acres Joint Ticket
This offers the students a whole day of activities, with the morning at Compton Acres botanical gardens and the afternoon cruising Poole Harbour with Dorset Cruises, or vice versa.
Compton Acres was constructed in 1920 by Mr Thomas Simpson and today is acknowledged as one of the finest privately owned gardens in England.
Your students are able to explore over 10 acres of horticultural heaven, browse the treasures in their Gifted Moment Store or delve into the exciting world of plants within their Plant Centre.
Once they’ve seen all that Compton Acres has to offer, the coach can then simply drop them off at Poole Quay to board Dorset Queen.
